Meet Josie

Welcome! My name is Josie Broyles. I am a 2026 graduate of Indiana University's Media School, where I earned my Bachelor of Journalism with a minor in Theatre. I specialize in sports broadcasting and am passionate about sports storytelling. I was honored to receive a 2026 Gracie Award for Best Student Podcast and to be named a 2026 Jim Nantz Award All-American by the National Sports Media Association. During my time at IU, I worked as a sideline reporter for Big Ten Plus and ESPN+, covering Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Soccer, Baseball, Volleyball, Softball, Wrestling, and Track and Field, and anchored and reported for IU Student Television's Hoosier Sports Nite throughout my four years on campus.

I have been fortunate to work with FOX Sports as a production assistant and runner across the FIFA World Cup, NFL, college football, and INDYCAR broadcasts. I also serve as an editorial writer and red carpet host with Press Pass LA, and I create content and manage Instagram for VOICEINSPORT, where I interview WNBA athletes and spotlight women in sports.

As a female sports reporter, I have developed a deep passion for female recognition in the sports industry. In the summer of 2025 I started my own podcast, "Fierce in the Field," an interview series with women working in sports today, paired with women's sports updates. The podcast was honored with a 2026 Gracie Award for Best Student Podcast in Digital Media from the Alliance for Women in Media.

Fierce in the Field

I walked into the Media School at Indiana University in 2022 knowing I loved video and broadcasting. Choosing journalism felt natural, and finding my place in sports journalism quickly became home. I was immediately pulled into covering women's soccer and went on to report on basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, and more. But women's sports always stood out.

As a woman working in a male-dominated industry, I often found myself on all-male crews and in classrooms where female voices were few. While those experiences shaped me, they also highlighted a gap, both in coverage and in community. I wanted a creative space that centered women, not as an afterthought, but as the focus.

Fierce in the Field was honored with a 2026 Gracie Award for Best Student Podcast in Digital Media from the Alliance for Women in Media.

Production Assistant and Runner

FOX Sports

Support live and studio productions across the FIFA World Cup, NFL, college football, and INDYCAR from production trucks, broadcast booths, studios, and field environments. Assist production teams and on-air talent with day-of-show needs and on-site logistics across major national sports broadcasts.

Big Ten+ and ESPN+

Delivered live sideline reports and athlete and coach interviews across multiple Big Ten sports, including men's basketball, baseball, soccer, women's basketball, softball, and NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament coverage. Researched teams and storylines, developed interview questions, and prepared original material with producers and crews.
